GOV. UMO ENO REWARDS PARA-BADMINTON GOLD MEDALIST

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has given N5million to James Akpan, an indigene of Nsit Ubium local government area,

as reward for winning Gold medal at the 2023 Africa Para-Badminton Championship in Kampala, Uganda.

The presentation of the cheque was done by the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi during a state banquet at the Banquet Hall, Government House Uyo, to celebrate Akwa Ibom’s 37th anniversary.

Akpan had combined with Olanipekun Gbenga to win gold for Nigeria in the men’s doubles SL3-SL4 beating Hassan Muniru and David Mukisa of Uganda 21-9, 21-9.

Nigeria won a total of thirteen medals, comprising eight gold, two silver and three bronze to top the medals table at the end of the championship.

James Akpan is a member of Uyo Badminton Club where he currently serves as the Technical Adviser.
